I’ve loved Music ever since I can remember!  As a little girl I was always singing!  I even had a karaoke machine (this was quite hi-tech for the 90’s!) & I used to spend hours singing away in my bedroom. I was also incredibly lucky to have very supportive parents who gave me the opportunity to learn a few different musical instruments as I grew up. 

When I finished school, I studied Music at further and higher education. My main instrument – the trumpet – ended up  taking a back seat, (although I still managed to get my Grade 8) and I decided to major in vocal performance. I developed a new passion for jazz & I was lucky enough to study vocals with the amazing jazz singer, Anita Wardell. I am proud to say that I won a few awards at university for some of the groups I took part in, as well as the prestigious award for solo singing! I also got the chance to meet loads of like-minded people and I got to sing in different types of bands and perform with some incredible musicians. I also met my lovely husband who plays trumpet and performs regularly with me in my band. He’s the reason my wedding band has an awesome brass section which will really wow your guests if you choose to upgrade to a full band package! 

After uni, I started to gig professionally as a jazz and pop singer, performing at weddings and various jazz clubs, pubs and restaurants. I also began to teach singing and various instruments in schools. Eventually I decided to train to be a classroom teacher and worked as a Head of Music at a school in Colchester for 15 years. 

More recently, I decided that I wanted to work as a full-time singer again. I run a little live music agency (Boogie Oogie Entertainments) on the side as I do love the booking process and liaising with clients – I do a little happy dance when I book a gig! My main priority though will always be my own singing career! 

There’s loads of singers and bands all trying to get you to book with them. Some are absolutely amazing but I’m hoping that I can help you understand why I’m different. 

Without giving my age away, you can see I’ve been performing and booking gigs for a long time! I’ve done my time performing in some ‘interesting’ venues but I’ve had the privilege of working in some amazing ones too! With all that experience, I’ll be able to guide you with what works and what doesn’t, musically and logistically! 

As you now know, I’m a musician as well as an Essex wedding singer. I pride myself on having a good ear & I’m really versatile. I can perform solo with backing tracks & I can happily lead a band as well as manage them! Or, I can be booked as part of an acoustic duo or trio! I have a YouTube channel where you can see my performances! I am happy to provide atmospheric background music but equally as happy to bring the party! 

I grew up listening to pop music but I’m also a jazz singer. That means I can also sing similar genres so I’m very happy singing vintage and wartime songs for an older audience or Remembrance & VE Day events. My main style has always been Soul & Motown as that’s the music I love but I also grew up in the 90’s so I love singing RnB, Club Classics & Garage as well as some cheesier songs – I can’t name any girls my age that didn’t love the Spice Girls! 

More recently I’ve discovered Country Music, along with everyone else on the planet! So, I’ve got myself a Country set together. I don’t like to brag but I think I can pull off the cowboy hat and boots too! So, whether you like the classic or modern songs, I’ve got you covered!
